Raquel Welch: iconic beauty

Last night I channeled Raquel Welch before going out to eat Linguine con Granchio. (with blue swimmer crab yum!)

Here is a photo of her from One Million Years B.C.

and another because I love the 60's makeup here:

Here is my interpretation:

This look for me was all about the eye shape, with a contoured socket going outwards. Also the liner and falsies play a big role!

Loving Alex Box

This was the look I re-created for Jemma Kidd's recent makeup video contest.

Original photo: Makeup designed by Alex Box (Illamasqua cosmetics) for the Hannah Marshall runway show at London Fashion Week A/W 2010.

I thought this look was great: beautiful contouring of the eyes and cheek bones in soft neutrals with a light, glowing base, perfectly complimented by precise and stunning electric blue lips.

I just found out that Illamasqua does reasonable shipping to Australia 7.50 GBP, so I'm very eager to try some of their products out! However, the ones I'm after are all sold out at the moment, so it might be a while before I get my hands on them :)

If you'd like to see how I re-created the look you can watch this:

Natural Smokey Eye with Maybelline Eyeshadow Quad in Charcoal Smokes

At the moment, I'm really wanting to buy a Nars eye shadow palette. Such as this one featured on Lollipop26's blog.

In an effort to abstain, for now, I went through my makeup today and tried to create a look that is kind of similar to what I'm looking for in a palette, neutral, everyday but pretty.

Here's what I came up with:

1) Stila Smudge Pot in Kitten all over lids.

2. Frosty Blue "Brow" shade underneath brows. (Basically apply eye shadow quad as directed, minus the darkest shade.)

3. Lid Shade on outer 1/3 of lid, and crease shade..... in the crease!

4. Bobbi Brown's long wear gel eyeliner on upper lids.

Finished eye:

I kept cheeks bare, this picture is mostly to show my henna that I just did last night!

All products purchased by me except the Bobbi Brown eyeliner, that was won as a prize.
